"Jesus is God.": A Reflection.

As a Catholic, I believe in the Triune God with three Divine Persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. And, in my so much wonder to the Catholic faith, I want to understand it. I want my faith to be strengthened by reason.

Thereby, I crave to have a reason for my faith in Jesus as the Second Person of the Trinity. Is Jesus God?

I begin with this premise. Sin is an infinite offense because it offenses an infinite God. The higher the person whom it is committed, the graver the sin.  Since the person whom it is committed is the infinite God, the sin is, thus, as that infinite.

However, 2000 years ago, God gave a shoulder for us to cry on. He gave his Only Begotten Son to pay the price of sin. He gave us a Redeemer for our sin.

This Redeemer is not a finite Redeemer, rather an infinite one because a finite cannot pay an infinite price. Therefore, the Redeemer that is given, the Only Begotten Son of God, is as well infinite.

Infinity, well then, is an attribute that is only God’s.

God knows no boundaries. He is without measure. This attribute by definition impacts all of the others. Since God is infinite, everything else about Him must also be infinite.

The Redeemer, in His infinite Being, is God.

Jesus is the Redeemer.

Jesus Christ redeems believers from all forms of sinful bondage and oppression through his death and resurrection. The price of that redemption, his own death, represents a ransom paid to secure the freedom of those held in bondage to sin.
Jesus is God.

Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, the Redeemer of man from the bondage of sin, the Second Person of the Trinity, in His infinity, is God.
